This position will help build Whole-Hospital Simulations (WHS)—realistic testbeds that emulate healthcare environments—and Vulnerability Mitigation Platforms (VMPs) that safeguard medical devices and both clinical and non-clinical networks.

  • Contribute technical expertise to research on hospital-scale cybersecurity simulations and vulnerability mitigation platforms.
  • Lead or participate in experimental studies of medical device and healthcare system security, including penetration testing and evaluation of emerging technologies.
  • Advise faculty, students, and collaborators on technical approaches, research methodologies, and security strategies.
  • Publish or co-author research papers and technical reports, and share findings with academic, industry, and government partners.
  • Present research at conferences, workshops, and seminars as appropriate.

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, attention to detail, and training in research methodology and quantitative data analysis
  • Strong technical expertise and independence in programming, with proficiency in tools such as Binary Ninja, IDA Pro, Matlab, software radios, LaTeX, etc.
  • Demonstrated research expertise in embedded systems, cybersecurity, or medical device security
  • Ability to plan and execute research projects independently and collaboratively
  • Demonstrated ability to mentor students and manage complex projects
